وَاذْكُرْ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذْ أَنذَرَ قَوْمَهُ بِالْأَحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ النُّذُرُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ {21} قَالُوا أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَأْفِكَنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ {22} قَالَ إِنَّمَا الْعِلْمُ عِندَ اللَّهِ وَأُبَلِّغُكُم مَّا أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ وَلَكِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ قَوْماً تَجْهَلُونَ {23} فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ عَارِضاً مُّسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ قَالُوا هَذَا عَارِضٌ مُّمْطِرُنَا بَلْ هُوَ مَا اسْتَعْجَلْتُم بِهِ رِيحٌ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ {24} تُدَمِّرُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِأَمْرِ رَبِّهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا لَا يُرَى إِلَّا مَسَاكِنُهُمْ كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْقَوْمَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ {25} وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاهُمْ فِيمَا إِن مَّكَّنَّاكُمْ فِيهِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ سَمْعاً وَأَبْصَاراً وَأَفْئِدَةً فَمَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَلَا أَبْصَارُهُمْ وَلَا أَفْئِدَتُهُم مِّن شَيْءٍ إِذْ كَانُوا يَجْحَدُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُون {26} وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا مَا حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ الْقُرَى وَصَرَّفْنَا الْآيَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ {27} فَلَوْلَا نَصَرَهُمُ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ قُرْبَاناً آلِهَةً بَلْ ضَلُّوا عَنْهُمْ وَذَلِكَ إِفْكُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ {28} سورة الأحقاف (46) ص

Âd kavminin kardeşini (Hûd`u) an. Zira o, kendinden önce ve sonra uyarıcıların da gelip geçtiği Ahkaf bölgesindeki kavmine: Allah`tan başkasına kulluk etmeyin. Ben sizin büyük bir günün azabına uğramanızdan korkuyorum, demişti. (21) "Sen bizi tanrılarımızdan çevirmek için mi bize geldin? Haydi, doğru söyleyenlerden isen, bizi tehdit ettiğin şeyi başımıza getir" dediler. (22) Hûd da: Bilgi ancak Allah`ın katındadır. Ben size, bana gönderilen şeyi duyuruyorum. Fakat sizin cahil bir kavim olduğunuzu görüyorum, dedi. (23) Nihayet onu, vadilerine doğru yayılan bir bulut şeklinde görünce: Bu bize yağmur yağdıracak yaygın bir buluttur, dediler. Hayır! O, sizin acele gelmesini istediğiniz şeydir. İçinde acı azap bulunan bir rüzgârdır! (24) O (rüzgâr), Rabbinin emriyle her şeyi yıkar, mahveder. Nitekim (o kasırga gelince) onların evlerinden başka bir şey görülmez oldu. İşte biz suç işleyen toplumu böyle cezalandırırız. (25) Andolsun ki, onlara da size vermediğimiz kudret ve serveti vermiştik. Kendilerine kulaklar, gözler ve kalpler vermiştik. Fakat kulakları, gözleri ve kalpleri kendilerine bir fayda sağlamadı. Zira bile bile Allah`ın âyetlerini inkar ediyorlardı. Alay edip durdukları şey, kendilerini kuşatıverdi. (26) Andolsun biz, çevrenizdeki memleketleri de yok ettik. Belki doğru yola dönerler diye âyetleri tekrar tekrar açıkladık. (27) Allah`tan başka kendilerine yakınlık sağlamak için tanrı edindikleri şeyler, kendilerine yardım etselerdi ya! Hayır, onları bırakıp gittiler. Bu onların yalanı ve uydurup durdukları şeydir. (28)

Und gedenke des Bruders der `Ad, als er sein Volk bei den Sanddünen warnte - und Warner sind schon vor ihm gewesen und nach ihm - (und sagte): "Dient Allah allein; denn ich fürchte für euch die Strafe eines großen Tages." (21) Sie sagten: "Bist du zu uns gekommen, um uns von unseren Göttern abzuwenden? So bring uns das, was du uns androhst, wenn du einer der Wahrhaftigen bist." (22) Er sagte: "Das Wissen (darüber) ist einzig bei Allah. Und ich richte euch nur das aus, womit ich entsandt wurde; jedoch ich sehe, ihr seid ein unwissendes Volk." (23) Dann aber, als sie sahen, wie es sich ihren Tälern gleich einer Wolke näherte, sagten sie: "Das ist eine Wolke, die uns Regen geben wird." "Nein, es ist vielmehr das, was ihr zu beschleunigen trachtetet - ein Wind, der eine schmerzliche Strafe mitführt. (24) Er wird alles zerstören auf den Befehl seines Herrn." Und am Morgen sah man nur noch ihre Wohnungen; so üben Wir Vergeltung am schuldigen Volk. (25) Und Wir hatten ihnen Gewalt über das gegeben, worüber Wir euch keine gegeben haben; und Wir hatten ihnen Ohren und Augen und Herzen gegeben. Aber weder ihre Ohren noch ihre Augen noch ihre Herzen nützten ihnen im geringsten (etwas), da sie die Zeichen Allahs leugneten; und sie wurden von dem erfaßt, worüber sie zu spotten pflegten. (26) Und Wir haben bereits Städte rings um euch zerstört; und Wir haben die Zeichen abgewandelt, damit sie sich bekehren mögen. (27) Warum haben ihnen denn nicht die geholfen, die sie sich statt Allah zu Göttern genommen haben (und die sie Ihm) nahebringen wollten? Nein, sie entschwanden ihnen. Das war ihre Lüge und das, was sie zu erdichten pflegten. (28)

And remember (Hûd) the brother of 'Ad, when he warned his people in Al-Ahqâf (the curved sand-hills in the southern part of Arabian Peninsula). And surely, there have passed away warners before him and after him (saying): "Worship none but Allâh; truly, I fear for you the torment of a mighty Day." (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." (21) They said: "Have you come to turn us away from our âlihah (gods)? Then bring us that with which you threaten us, if you are one of the truthful!" (22) He said: "The knowledge (of the time of its coming) is with Allâh only, And I convey to you that wherewith I have been sent, but I see that you are a people given to ignorance!" (23) Then, when they saw it as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Nay, but it is that (torment) which you were asking to be hastened — a wind wherein is a painful torment! (24) Destroying everything by the Command of its Lord! So they became such that nothing could be seen except their dwellings! Thus do We recompense the people who are Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners)! (25) And indeed We had firmly established them with that wherewith We have not established you (O Quraish)! And We had assigned them the (faculties of) hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and hearts, but their hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and their hearts availed them nothing since they used to deny the Ayât (Allâh's Prophets and their Prophethood, proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations) of Allâh, and they were completely encircled by that which they used to mock at! (26) And indeed We have destroyed towns (populations) round about you, and We have (repeatedly) shown (them) the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in various ways that they might return (to the truth and believe in the Oneness of Allâh — Islâmic Monotheism). (27) Then why did those whom they had taken for âlihah (gods) besides Allâh, as a way of approach (to Allâh) not help them? Nay, but they vanished completely from them (when there came the torment). And that was their lie, and their inventions which they had been inventing (before their destruction). (28)

Mention (Hud) one of `Ad's (own) brethren: behold, he warned his people about the winding Sand-tracts: but there have been Warners before him and after him: "Worship ye none other than Allah: truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Mighty Day." (21) They said: "Hast thou come in order to turn us aside from Our gods? Then bring upon us the (calamity) with which thou dost threaten us, if thou art telling the truth!" (22) He said: "The Knowledge (of when it will come) is only with Allah: I proclaim to you the mission on which I have been sent: but I see that ye are a people in ignorance!"... (23) Then, when they saw the (Penalty in the shape of ) a cloud traversing the sky, coming to meet their valleys, they said: "This cloud will give us rain!" "Nay, it is the (calamity) ye were asking to be hastened!― a― wind wherein is a Grievous Penalty! (24) "Everything will it destroy by the command of its Lord!" Then by the morning they, nothing was to be seen but (the ruins of) their houses! Thus do We recompense those given to sin! (25) And We had firmly established them in a (prosperity and) power which We have not given to you (ye Quraish!) and We had endowed them with (faculties of) hearing, seeing, heart and intellect: but of no profit to them were their (faculties of) hearing, sight, and heart and intellect, when they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah; and they were (completely) encircled by that which they used to mock at! (26) We destroyed aforetime populations round about you; and We have shown the Signs in various ways, that they may turn (to Us). (27) Why then was no help forthcoming to them from those whom they worshipped as gods, besides Allah, as a means of access (to Allah)? Nay they left them in the lurch: but that was their falsehood and their invention. (28)

Et rappelle-toi le frère des ‘Aad (Hūd) quand il avertit son peuple à Al-Aḥqāf - alors qu’avant et après lui, des avertisseurs sont passés - [en disant]: «N’adorez qu’Allah. Je crains pour vous le châtiment d’un jour terrible». (21) Ils dirent: «Es-tu venu à nous pour nous détourner de nos divinités? Eh bien, apporte-nous ce que tu nous promets si tu es du nombre des véridiques». (22) Il dit: «La science n’est qu’auprès d’Allah. Je vous transmets cependant le message avec lequel j’ai été envoyé. Mais je vois que vous êtes des gens ignorants». (23) Puis, voyant un nuage se dirigeant vers leurs vallées ils dirent; «Voici un nuage qui nous apporte de la pluie». Au contraire! c’est cela même que vous cherchiez à hâter: C’est un vent qui contient un châtiment douloureux, (24) détruisant tout, par le commandement de son Seigneur. Puis le lendemain on ne voyait plus que leurs demeures. Ainsi rétribuons-Nous les gens criminels. (25) En effet, Nous les avions consolidés dans des positions que Nous ne vous avons pas données. Et Nous leur avions assigné une ouïe, des yeux et des cœurs, mais ni leur ouïe, ni leurs yeux, ni leurs cœurs ne leur ont profité en quoi que ce soit, parce qu’ils niaient les signes d’Allah. Et ce dont ils se moquaient les cerna. (26) Nous avons assurément fait périr les cités autour de vous; et Nous avons diversifié les signes afin qu’ils reviennent (de leur mécréance). (27) Pourquoi donc ne les secourent pas, ceux qu’ils avaient pris, en dehors d’Allah, comme divinités pour [soi-disant] les rapprocher de Lui? Ceux-ci, au contraire, les abandonnèrent; telle est leur imposture et voilà ce qu’ils inventaient comme mensonges (28)

Dan ingatlah [Hud] saudara kaum ’Aad yaitu ketika dia memberi peringatan kepada kaumnya di Al Ahqaaf dan sesungguhnya telah terdahulu beberapa orang pemberi peringatan sebelumnya dan sesudahnya [dengan mengatakan]: "Janganlah kamu menyembah selain Allah, sesungguhnya aku khawatir kamu akan ditimpa azab hari yang besar". (21) Mereka menjawab: "Apakah kamu datang kepada kami untuk memalingkan kami dari [menyembah] tuhan-tuhan kami? Maka datangkanlah kepada kami azab yang telah kamu ancamkan kepada kami jika kamu termasuk orang-orang yang benar". (22) Ia berkata: "Sesungguhnya pengetahuan [tentang itu] hanya pada sisi Allah dan aku [hanya] menyampaikan kepadamu apa yang aku diutus dengan membawanya tetapi aku lihat kamu adalah kaum yang bodoh". (23) Maka tatkala mereka melihat azab itu berupa awan yang menuju ke lembah-lembah mereka, berkatalah mereka: "Inilah awan yang akan menurunkan hujan kepada kami". [Bukan]! bahkan itulah azab yang kamu minta supaya datang dengan segera [yaitu] angin yang mengandung azab yang pedih, (24) yang menghancurkan segala sesuatu dengan perintah Tuhannya, maka jadilah mereka tidak ada yang kelihatan lagi kecuali [bekas-bekas] tempat tinggal mereka. Demikianlah Kami memberi balasan kepada kaum yang berdosa. (25) Dan sesungguhnya Kami telah meneguhkan kedudukan mereka dalam hal-hal yang Kami belum pernah meneguhkan kedudukanmu dalam hal itu dan Kami telah memberikan kepada mereka pendengaran, penglihatan dan hati; tetapi pendengaran, penglihatan dan hati mereka itu tidak berguna sedikit juapun bagi mereka, karena mereka selalu mengingkari ayat-ayat Allah dan mereka telah diliputi oleh siksa yang dahulu selalu mereka memperolok-olokkannya. (26) Dan sesungguhnya Kami telah membinasakan negeri-negeri di sekitarmu [1] dan Kami telah mendatangkan tanda-tanda kebesaran Kami berulang-ulang supaya mereka kembali [bertaubat]. (27) Maka mengapa yang mereka sembah selain Allah sebagai Tuhan untuk mendekatkan diri [kepada Allah] tidak dapat menolong mereka. Bahkan tuhan-tuhan itu telah lenyap dari mereka? Itulah akibat kebohongan mereka dan apa yang dahulu mereka ada-adakan. (28)

Dan ingatlah peristiwa (Nabi Hud) saudara kaum Aad, ketika dia memberi amaran kepada kaumnya yang tinggal di lembah "Al-Ahqaaf", sedang (amarannya itu samalah seperti) amaran-amaran yang telah diberikan oleh Rasul-rasul yang terdahulu daripadanya dan yang datang sesudahnya (dengan berkata): Janganlah kamu menyembah melainkan Allah, sesungguhnya aku bimbang kamu akan beroleh azab hari yang besar (huru-haranya). (21) Mereka menjawab: Adakah engkau datang kepada kami untuk memesongkan kami dari menyembah tuhan-tuhan kami? Maka bawalah azab seksa yang engkau janjikan kepada kami itu jika betul engkau dari orang-orang yang benar! (22) Nabi Hud berkata: Sesungguhnya ilmu pengetahuan (tentang kedatangan azab itu) hanya ada di sisi Allah dan (tugasku hanya) menyampaikan kepada kamu apa yang aku diutuskan membawanya, tetapi aku lihat kamu satu kaum yang jahil (akan tugas Rasul)! (23) Maka apabila mereka melihat azab itu sebagai awan yang menghala ke lembah-lembah mereka, mereka berkata: Ini ialah awan yang akan membawa hujan kepada kita! (Mendengarkan kata-kata yang demikian, Nabi Hud berkata): Tidak! Bahkan itulah (azab) yang kamu minta disegerakan kedatangannya, iaitu angin yang membawa azab seksa yang tidak terperi sakitnya; (24) Yang menghancur leburkan segala-galanya dengan izin Tuhannya. (Setelah azab itu menimpa mereka) maka menjadilah mereka (punah ranah) tidak ada yang kelihatan melainkan tempat-tempat tinggal mereka. Demikianlah Kami membalas kaum yang berdosa. (25) Dan demi sesungguhnya! Kami telah meneguhkan kedudukan mereka (dengan kekuasaan dan kemewahan) yang tidak Kami berikan kamu menguasainya (wahai kaum musyrik Mekah) dan Kami telah jadikan bagi mereka pendengaran dan penglihatan serta hati; dalam pada itu, pendengaran dan penglihatan serta hati mereka tidak memberikan faedah sedikitpun kepada mereka, kerana mereka sentiasa mengingkari ayat-ayat keterangan Allah dan (dengan yang demikian) mereka diliputi oleh azab yang mereka telah ejek-ejek itu. (26) Dan demi sesungguhnya! Kami telah binasakan negeri-negeri yang ada di sekeliling (negeri) kamu (wahai kaum musyrik Mekah) dan Kami telah menerangkan tanda-tanda (kekuasaan Kami) dengan berbagai cara, supaya mereka kembali (bertaubat). (27) Maka sepatutnya mereka dibela oleh segala yang mereka sembah yang lain dari Allah sebagai penyembahan untuk mendekatkan diri (kepada Allah)? (Tetapi tidak), bahkan segala yang mereka sembah itu telah hilang lenyap dari mereka dan demikianlah akibat penyelewengan mereka dan kepercayaan yang mereka telah ada-adakan. (28)

Y recuerda al hermano de los Ad, cuando advirtió a su gente en las dunas*. Antes de él ya habían venido advertidores, como lo harían después: No adoréis sino a Allah, temo por vosotros el castigo de un día grave. (21) Dijeron: ¿Has venido a nosotros para apartarnos de nuestros dioses? Tráenos aquello con lo que nos amenazas si eres de los que dicen la verdad. (22) Dijo: Realmente el conocimiento sólo está junto a Allah, yo no hago sino haceros llegar aquello con lo que he sido enviado; sin embargo os veo gente ignorante. (23) Y cuando lo vieron como una nube frente a sus valles, dijeron: Esta es la nube que nos trae lluvia.Pero no, es aquello cuya venida estabais urgiendo: Un viento que encierra un doloroso castigo. (24) Lo arrasó todo por mandato de su Señor; y amanecieron, y sólo podían verse sus moradas. Así es como recompensamos a la gente que hace el mal. (25) Les habíamos dado una posición que no os hemos dado a vosotros y les habíamos dado oído, vista y corazón; pero ni su oído, ni su vista ni su corazón les sirvieron de nada cuando negaron los signos de Allah, y aquello de lo que se habían burlado los rodeó. (26) Y es cierto que hemos destruido las ciudades de vuestro alrededor y hemos explicado repetidamente los signos para que pudieran volverse atrás. (27) Pero, ¿por qué no les auxiliaron ésos que ellos habían tomado como objeto de adoración y dioses, fuera de Allah?Ni siquiera pudieron encontrarlos. Y así fue su mentira y lo que habían inventado. (28)
